As you probably know all too well, appliances are expensive. That’s why it’s a good idea to time your purchase right, whenever possible. “Three-day weekends are always a reliable time to shop for appliances and big-ticket items,” explains Trae Bodge, a smart-shopping expert. “Labor Day weekend is one of my favorites for appliance deals because retailers often offer generous discounts in an effort to clear out their inventory to make way for the new models coming later in September and in October.”
While almost everything will be marked down for the long weekend, some Labor Day appliance sales will be better than others. “Most large appliances, except refrigerators, go on sale over Labor Day weekend, and some of the sales will continue through September,” says Bodge. “Expect to see discounts from large chains like Home Depot and Lowe’s, which are open on Labor Day, in the 25 to 40 percent off range.”
